Christmas 2015: The Department Stores in Paris, France
'Let the show begin' |
The view from the top of the Printemps |
To
dive even more into the festive spirit, the only thing that I longed
for was to see Christmas displays in Paris and get excited about all
the beautiful lights in the streets. Although nothing can beat
English cities when it comes to Christmas atmosphere (at least to
me), I still think Paris does have some pretty displays during the
festive period. My favourite place to go at this time of year is
the Galeries
Lafayette and
the Printemps,
the huge Parisian department stores that many of you must know of
already. Each year, they arrange their windows with amazing themed
decorations, and the inside is also filled with trees, baubles and
lights. Nothing makes me happier than going to the Galeries during
Christmas time, even though the place is packed full of people. The
festive atmosphere is too good to miss, and the work done in the
window displays are amazing!
This
year, the Printemps (which are celebrating their 150th birthday) have
decided to go for a very springy - according to their name! - theme,
with flying and dancing flowers, and roses on the
ceiling. To these, you can add a wonderful Burberry window display
(Burberry does amazing displays each year!), amongst many others. As
for the Galeries Lafayette, they went for a space and
robots theme - I guess it has something to do with the new
Star Wars film! I don't have many photos of these displays though,
because of the awful reflections of light you couldn't see much in
the pictures that I took. :(
The
best part to me in the wonderful Christmas tree inside the Galeries,
in all its gold glittering beauty! If ever you come to Paris
during the Christmas and New Year period, I highly recommend you go
to the Galeries Lafayettes and the Printemps - both stores are right
next to each other in a beautiful part of the city. Don't forget to
stop at a nearby café (or even at the café of the stores if you're
feeling fancy) for a hot drink. I promise you, you'll be full-on
Christmas mode!
Have you ever been to these stores during the Christmas period? Or to any department store that creates beautiful festive scenery during that time of year?
Lots of love,

Beautiful photos Julia!!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing all the Christmassy feeling in these wonderful pictures!
I do agree with you, in England (although I can only really talk about London) they do it better than most places! I love London at Christmas time, and I especially love Oxford street and all the lights they have, as well as Selfridges displays.
Much love,
Mona
Thank you Mona ♥ Yes London at Christmas is amazing, especially around the big shopping areas like Selfridges as you said. Bath and Winchester are also wonderful to visit during Christmas time! But Paris is obviously a nice one too :P xx
DeleteWow everything looks so beautiful and the view is breath taking! Would love to visit one day!

Yes, they know how to create an atmosphere in these stores! However the downside is that there are crowds of people inside, it's true! :( xx
